Interesting Facts Concerning the Philippines:

"The large cities in the Philippines have become modernized but the provinces are still very rural. Most Filipinos live in Nepa huts, which are houses made of bamboo with a grass roof and a dirty floor. Many places have no electricity, although more and more places now are getting it. Filipinos usually have large families. Often, entire families will live together, including grandparents and other relatives. Most Filipinos are poor and labor is very cheap. Most Filipinos wear shanilas (like flip-flops). Often this is the only pair of shoes they have, although some may have a nice pair for special occasions." (Source: Central Philippines University)
